Art can capture a brief moment of everyday life forever. Fleeting moments are frozen, to hold them before they slip away. Raindrops on a surface, light shining from behind clouds, and the petals of a bouquet of faded tulips drifting down. But also intangible phenomena like memories of a past landscape, physical sensations after loss, or phantom images that occasionally appear unexpectedly on your retina. All seemingly fleeting events that the artists in this exhibition use in their work.

What do you paint or not?
But the exhibition is also about painting itself. How do you paint a fingerprint on a steamed-up mirror, the smooth metal surface of an elevator door, how do you capture the essence of the sun shining through the trees? How do you combine the feeling you get when you see something with what you actually perceive? What do you paint, and what don’t you paint?

Daily phenomena
The artists in this exhibition use small, everyday phenomena in their work. They reveal the reality of the world around you. They take you on a journey through memories or play with perception and optical illusions to make you reconsider the way you see. In an ode to the everyday, they not only reveal what’s around you but also invite you to enter their world and take something from it for your own.
